Album Summary for Viktory - Son of the King: Over three years have passed by between the release of Viktory's last album "Believe it Now" and his latest album "Son of the King" and one thing is clear - Vik has been hard at work during that time. "Son of the King" wastes no time in hitting top speed and instantly kicks things off with "Livin It" - an assertive song that will have you bobbing your head in no time. Things heat up even more with "On Fire" - Which is perhaps the most well known single from the album - and for good reason. The beat fits Viktory's rhyming style like a glove. (View the Music Video Here) "Soldier" is next up and it does a more than adequate job of carrying the momentum of the album forward. I love the chorus of this song, it's very unique. We now come to another favorite of the album "What it Look Like" which features the multi talented Canton Jones. Let me warn you in advance: this song has one of those hooks that you will NOT be able to get out of your head. If you're anything like me you'll find yourself humming or singing it at the most random times. Thankfully thats not necessarily a bad thing in this case, as the song is outstanding. Sucessive songs like "Get Hot", "I Wanna Go", and "Survive" help the album maintain its momentum well into the final seconds of the third quarter - following which we are treated to a good - although in my opinion, not great - forth quarter where the album wraps things up. Overall this is an extremely well done project and will surely go down as one of the best Christian Rap albums of 2009 - it was certainly worth the wait. |
